Rosalie Irene (Stayer) Mellott

Obituary

Rosalie Irene (Strayer) Mellott, daughter of Ord and Hilda (Flohr) Strayer, was born July 21, 1921, at Vienna, VA and departed this life on the dawning of a new day, Tuesday, July 18, 2017. She was privileged to live in this life the allotted 3 score and 10 years and nearly 26 more.

Early in life she gave her heart to the Lord. She was very active in the Dunkard Brethren Church and many other churches. Rosalie was a student of music and was often a song leader.

She was united in marriage on May 14, 1947, to Harold Homer Mellott and they were married 53 years. To this union two children were born, Paul (Carolyn), Battle Creek, MI and Elizabeth, who preceded her in death; a sister, Anna Elizabeth Miller and a brother, Earl Waldo Strayer, who also preceded her. She is survived by eight grandchildren, Lavinia Mellott, MI, Autumn (Tim) Gregory, Battle Creek, Alex (Tammy) Mellott, Phoebe (Jim) Edgell, Charlene Hebb, CO, Laura (Scott) McClean, James (Tammy) Hebb and David Hebb; 16 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.

As a young girl, Rosalie made the decision to follow Christ and has continued this life long journey. Finally at dawn, on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, she was welcomed home by the King, who she has served for these many years and was delighted to hear “Well done, good and faithful servant…..enter into the joy of thy Lord.” Matthew 25:21 KJV
